It isn't hard to see that infant or baby skin is much thinner than adult skin, but research has shown that baby skin produces less melatonin than adult skin and is therefore particularly susceptible to sun damage.

The Cancer Council recommends that babies under 12 months not be exposed to direct
sunlight. The more sun exposure during childhood, the greater the risk of skin cancer in later life.

Damage at a young age can have permanent, serious effects and you should always take precautions to protect your child's skin.
